Donburi Sōshinbori: The full bodysuit tattoo.
The traditional tattoo method, known as irezumi, uses a brush made from a bamboo stick with a steel needle grouping attached to the tip. Irezumi specialists, known as Horishi, would manually tattoo the skin by poking the skin with the needle again and again, a time consuming and painful process. Some bodysuits, when done in weekly sessions can take anywhere from 1-5 years depending on the detail.
